Why we offer this
| We create an enhanced curriculum by providing experiential learning interwoven and planned throughout the subjects, in all year groups and across the Academic Year. Teachers carefully adapt these opportunities to ensure ALL children from all disadvantaged groups relevant to our context are included. We believe it is fundamental for children to have these opportunities to create a drive for learning and be inspired with future aspirations beyond Brierley. |
What we offer | Across all core and non-core curriculum subjects, Teachers plan experiential learning opportunities throughout units of work. These include; Science experiments, Arts and crafts, outdoor learning, role-play, provision and environment changes, hooks, themed days and activities, food tasting, drama plays and Forest Schools. |

Trips | |
Why we offer this
| Similar to experiential learning, organised trips help to enhance our curriculum, bringing subjects to life and enabling hands on experiences for our children. They allow the children to see the world outside of their lived area creating new experiences that they have never done before. During the trips, our children develop personal skills including their self-esteem and confidence, relationships with peers and Teachers, Team-work skills and meaningful learning that becomes memorable. We widely encourage families to join in with these Trips making memories both for the children and with them. Our children see other Professionals in their working life, and they become inspired to want to do these jobs in the future. |

Outside Organisations | |
Why we offer this | We have various connections with outside organisations who come into school to deliver interesting, fun and enriching experiences during the school day. Many of these experiences are used to hook children into new learning and develop a thirst to know more. Through drama, children engage with history much more than they would looking at secondary sources as they see history come to life before their very eyes. Through Techology, children can wander the planes of the Stone Age like a Nomad, exploring caves, ancient weapons and discover up close the marvellous extinct animals of our past. Many outside providers have professionals with jobs that our children can aspire to be in their future from chefs to the Police, children learn about more opportunities available to them. |
What we offer | Throughout the whole school, every child will experience something new during their time at Brierley. Here are a few examples of what we offer; RockSteady, Judo, Art lessons with local artist Jo Bell, the Mini Police Programme, ASPENs, Trunk Theatre, Bamboozle Theatre company, 1:1 Tapiola Piano lessons, VR experiences through History, Geography and Science, Paceball. |
