Hello and welcome to you....The Believers!
I, Mrs Bird, am really looking forward to welcoming you to your new classroom for all children who believe they can do it!
In our class we have one main aim and that is to help you believe in yourself and know that you can do everything and anything that you want to do!
This half term our project question is 'How can food be transported from field to factory/shop?' This project question has a DT focus and the the children will learn new skills to create their own construction.
In Maths, this half term we will be starting our unit on time. We will be learning to tell the time as well as writing the time before then moving on to finding and comparing durations of time. We will then be moving on to our final unit of measurement; mass, capacity and temperature where we will be measuring and comparing mass, capacity and volume.
In English, this half term is focused on the theme 'to inform'. We will spend some time looking at the Paddington book and we will use this book as our inspiration to write instructions for making a marmalade sandwich, a letter to Aunt Lucy in Peru before finishing off the unit researching bears and writing a non-chronological report on bears.
In Science, this half term we will continue to focus on 'Plants'. We have already begun to identify different parts of plants and we will be investigating further the functions of these parts. We will be carrying out investigations to understand more what plants need to survive.
Please listen to your child read 5 times a week and record in their reading record. We will change our reading books on a Monday each week.
Please practise the following spellings with your child; choose approximately 8 words to practise each week.
