Hello and welcome to you....The Believers!
In our class we have one main aim and that is to help you believe in yourself and know that you can do everything and anything that you want to do!
We have lots of exciting learning planned for this year and I believe in all of you!
This half term our project question is 'Is old better than new?' This project question has a history focus and the children will be learning about the many ways life was different a long time ago compared to now.
In Maths, this half term we will be starting our unit on place value. The children will be learning to count objects to 100 and writing numbers in numerals and words before moving on to comparing and ordering numbers.
In English, this half term is focused on the theme 'to entertain'. We will spend some time looking at the Jack and the Beanstalk book before writing our own story with an alternative ending. We will begin to extend our sentences using conjunctions and will learn how to use commas to separate items in a list.
In Science, this half term we will be focussing on 'materials' which will link in with our project lessons. We will begin to identify different materials and think carefully about the uses of different materials and how they are suitable for their purpose.
Please listen to your child read 5 times a week and record in their reading record. We will change our reading books on a Monday each week.
Please practise the following spellings with your child; choose approximately 8 words from the common exception word list to practise each week.
