Welcome to Year 4, The Astronomers! I'm Miss Plaskitt.
We are all buckled in for one fantastic year so make sure to keep checking back to see what exciting projects we have planned!
This term in maths we will be focusing on multiplication and division including multiplying three-digit numbers by one digit, using bar models to represent multiplication and division using the 'bus stop method'.
In English, we will be writing to inform based on environmental changes in our planet. We will be reading 'Bloom' by Nicola Skinner and 'The Promise' by Nicola Davies.
In our Friday science lessons, we will investigate animals and their habitats, looking at adaptations of animals living in different locations.
Our project question this half term is: 'will it be great when the Earth gets warmer?' with a geographical focus looking at our planet and looking at human effects on the environment.
Online Learning/homework
Weekly spellings are available on Spelling Shed, we have spelling tests every Friday. Over on MyMaths and PurpleMash you will find weekly tasks based on the recent work we have been completing in class - your child's logins are still the same! Dojos will be awarded to the children that complete these tasks each week.
Enrichment
Each half term a group of children will be selected from our class to take part in an enrichment activity. This half term, children are taking part in rock climbing. This will happen every Wednesday afternoon and the selected children will need to come to school in clothes suitable for the activity.
