Wow! What a great start to school after such a long time in lockdown and the Summer holidays. The children have really focused themselves in their learning and shown some fantastic enthusiasm for being at school again.
This half term, we are looking into place value in Maths, this involves looking at numbers up to and within 100. We are looking at how numbers are spilt into tens and ones. we are also focusing on how we can represent this in different ways. After this the children will be focusing on comparing numbers up to 50 - looking at greater than or less than.
In English, we are focusing our learning around a text called 'Here we are' - this text enables us to focus on the childrens well being and ensure they have a smooth and settled return back to school. After this, we will begin looking at a story called 'The three little pigs'. In this story we will focus on thr use of conjunctions, verbs and nouns. We will also begin to look at how we piece together our own stories too.
Our project question this half term is 'Is old better than new?'. Children will look into the human and physical features within their local area and discuss how things have changed over time. After this children will look into mining and how that has made such a huge impact on Sutton - In - Ashfield too.
Please remember to listen to your child read 5 times a week at home. Your child has the opportunity to change their books on a Monday morning, so please ensure books and planners are in school.
PE will take place on a Tuesday and will be done outside to follow COVID guidelines - please ensure children are wrapped up warm and in plenty of layers for the colder months.
Many thanks for your support both in school and at home.
Mrs Roberts and Miss Harley :)
