Wow! What a great start back after half term. The children have really focused themselves in their learning and shown great perseverance to combat new challenges especially in maths.
This half term, we will continue to learn different methods to solve addition and subtraction sums. We are becoming confident in using column addition but now we must work on our column subtraction. After we have mastered these skills we will move onto learning about money.
In English, we continue to focus our learning around a text. We have really enjoyed 'The day the crayons quit' especially when our felt tips went on strike! This week we have been using the story of Paddington to develop our understanding of nouns, adjectives and expanded noun phrases. Miss Gale has been super impressed with all our hard work and creative adjectives.
Our project question this half term is 'Can you just throw things away?'Throughout the half term will base our learning on this question with a focus on geography and the impact we have on our environment.
Christmas is around the corner and we are now starting to practise songs for our nativity. This year the Y2 children will be acting on stage as well as singing. We are super excited for this!
Please remember to listen to your child read 5 times a week at home. Your child has the opportunity to change their books on a Wednesday afternoon.
Thank you for your continued support
